What this viewer shows

  • 6 public profile fields: username, display name, bio, avatar, followers and following.
  • Up to 12 recent posts as thumbnails, each linking to the original post.
  • A direct link to the profile on Instagram, which stays the authoritative source.

How it works

  1. You enter a public username — no @ symbol, no login.
  2. Server-side API routes validate the handle, rate limit the request and call the data source.
  3. The response is cached for 5 minutes, so a repeat lookup returns instantly.

Frequently asked questions

What if I typed the wrong username?

Double-check spelling. Usernames can include dots and underscores.

Why are only some posts shown?

The tool focuses on recent posts for speed and reliability.

What format should the username be in?

Enter the handle without the @ symbol — for example natgeo, not @natgeo. Instagram usernames are 1–30 characters and may contain letters, numbers, periods and underscores.

Can I paste a full Instagram URL instead?

Paste the handle only. If you have a link like instagram.com/natgeo, copy the part after the last slash and drop any query string that follows a question mark.

Why does a username I know exists return not found?

Most often a typo, a period in the wrong place, or an account that was renamed or deactivated. Copy and paste the handle directly from a profile link to rule out typos.

Are usernames case sensitive?

No. Instagram handles are case insensitive, so NatGeo and natgeo resolve to the same account. We lowercase the username before caching so both spellings share one cached result.

Do you store the usernames I search?

We keep only what the rate limiter needs to count 20 lookups per 10 minutes per IP, plus a 5-minute response cache keyed by username. There is no per-user search history.

How long does a preview take?

Typically a second or two on a first lookup, and effectively instant within the 5-minute cache window because the response is served without calling the upstream data source again.
