What does profile not found mean?

The username did not resolve. In practice it is a typo, a misplaced period, or an account that was renamed or deactivated. Paste the handle from a profile link to be sure.

What does rate limited mean?

You have used the 20 lookups allowed per 10 minutes from your IP address. The allowance refills continuously, so waiting a few minutes restores access.

What does provider unavailable mean?

The upstream data source failed or timed out. It is a problem on our side of the request, not with the username, so retrying in a minute or two often succeeds.

What does the amber notice on a profile mean?

The account is private or otherwise restricted. The viewer shows the notice instead of content because it does not bypass Instagram privacy settings.

Why does the Stories tab say stories are unavailable?

The configured data source does not support stories, or the account has no active story. Stories expire after 24 hours, so empty is the normal state most of the time.
